A number of universities now only offer residential places as part of the widening participation scheme which requires students to meet their set eligibility criteria. Summer Schools / Experience Days / Residentials
Whilst the description title may differ, these usually provide an opportunity for students to stay on campus for a period of time in order to immerse themselves in university life.
- BioGrad - Liverpool Science Park - offers clinical and laboratory based training for science students. Fee payable. Some courses aimed specifically at A level students wanting lab/clinical skills, etc.

- Insight into University (previously known as Headstart) - Applications open for these courses end of November for submission end of December.
- The Alexander Awards A level Summer School. 16 fully funded places for a week long residential.Open to Y12. "This award is available for aspiring young geographers who may have not otherwise had the opportunity to take part in such an experience. All travel, fieldwork tuition, food and accommodation will be fully covered by the award. " Will post on the web page when running again.
