Post-16 Spare Capacity school transport scheme
For those that are in-catchment and attend the Sixth Form it is possible to request a seat on school transport as part of this scheme. All requests should initially go through the Sixth Form Department, please direct your queries to [email protected].
However, seats are only allocated when Cumberland Council feels there is spare capacity and the seat is not required by a student in the lower school.
Whilst requests are made in June, the Council does not inform the school until the week before school starts and the Council now operate a policy that they will not release seats, nor allow any student to travel on a bus without a pass or being on the operators list, until they are sure they are surplus to requirements. This could take up to six weeks.
If this is the case, the recommendation would be to contact the operator of your bus route directly and investigate as to whether a seat can be purchased independently of the Council scheme. This could then secure a place. Places offered by the Council often come with the proviso that seats can be removed at short notice should they be required by a student in the lower school.
Low Income Families transport provision for post-16s
This is a separate and additional scheme that requires you to liaise with the Council directly should you be eligible. Please refer to the Council website for the latest policy guidelines which can change each year. If you are eligible for this scheme you need to complete and submit an application form, available from the Council website. Please check both the policy statement and the income criteria. Copies of these are available to view here. Applications for this must be submitted by May 31. If you meet the current criteria this should secure you a place on your transport route.
Bring your own device policy and form
The school has a BYOD policy that recognizes the benefits of using personal ICT devices to support learning. Devices must be used in accordance with the BYOD policy and students and parents must sign a declaration agreeing to be bound by the additional school rules.
You should now complete an online form found here. Students should take their device to Mr S Waning, IT Department.
